(This evening through Monday) Issued at 136 PM CDT Sun Aug 16 2026 Upper level high pressure will prevail across the region through Monday, with the center of the high over north central Texas tomorrow. Dry and hot conditions will continue, with lows tonight in the 70s and highs on Monday in the upper 90s to around 103 degrees. The hottest temperatures will be across the Concho Valley into the Big Country. Breezy south winds will continue this afternoon, with lighter winds expected tomorrow. && .LONG TERM... (Monday night through next Sunday) Issued at 136 PM CDT Sun Aug 16 2026 Hot and dry conditions will persist across West Central Texas through the upcoming week. The upper high will migrate slowly westward to the Four Corners region towards the end of the week. Daytime highs through the week will range from the mid and upper 90s along the I-10 corridor, and between 100 and 104 degrees across the Concho Valley, Heartland and Big Country. There is the potential for highs to reach 105 degrees across the Big Country Wednesday and Thursday, and a Heat Advisory may eventually be needed across this area. By late in the week, the GFS shows a short wave moving southeast through the Plains, with a possible cold front pushing through Oklahoma into north Texas and possibly as far south as the Big Country by Friday. If this were to happen, then low rain chances may need to eventually added to the forecast. && .AVIATION...
