835 FXUS64 KSJT 081131 AAA AFDSJT Area Forecast Discussion...UPDATED National Weather Service San Angelo TX 631 AM CDT Wed Oct 8 2025 ...New AVIATION... .KEY MESSAGES... - A few isolated showers or a thunderstorm possible today in southern portions of the area. - Temperatures will remain mostly above normal through the end of this week. - Elevated fire weather conditions possible on Saturday. && .SHORT TERM... (Today and tonight) Issued at 115 AM CDT Wed Oct 8 2025 With the overall setup of an upper level high gradually becoming recentered westward over Texas today and tonight, our weather will be quiet for the most part. Our southern counties, mainly in parts of Northern Edwards Plateau, will have a possibility for a few isolated showers or a thunderstorm today. This is where some deeper moisture remains. Otherwise, skies will be partly cloudy over our area today, and afternoon highs will be in the mid to upper 80s. Expect winds from the northeast to east today at 6-12 mph. With partly cloudy to mostly clear skies tonight, overnight lows will be in the lower to mid 60s with generally light east winds. && .LONG TERM... (Thursday through Tuesday) Issued at 1249 AM CDT Wed Oct 8 2025 the upper level ridge will dominate the pattern during the long term. Expect above normal temperatures and dry weather. The warmest days will be Saturday and Sunday with highs in the upper 80s to mid 90s. Otherwise, highs will be in the 80s to around 90 for the other days. Expect elevated fire weather conditions Saturday across the Big Country due to gusty winds and dry fuels. && .AVIATION... (12Z TAFS) Issued at 630 AM CDT Wed Oct 8 2025 VFR conditions are expected at our TAF sites through the next 24 hours. Having mentioned this, some patchy low cloud cover (with MVFR ceilings) have developed over parts of northwest Texas and a little of this could develop over the Big Country between 12Z and 15Z. This may potentially affect KABI briefly, but confidence is too low to include in their TAF. But will monitor satellite and observational trends and update if needed. Overall, skies will be partly cloudy today, and winds will be generally from the northeast to east at 5-10 knots. Our southern counties, mainly in the Northern Edwards Plateau, will have a possibility for a few isolated showers or a thunderstorm today. The possibility looks looks remote enough to not include a mention in any of our TAFs. Partly cloudy skies early tonight should become mostly clear overnight. Winds will be generally from the east tonight with speeds decreasing to less than 5 knots. && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
