.SHORT TERM...
(This evening through Thursday)
Issued at 1212 PM CST Wed Dec 10 2025

A cold front was making it`s way southward through west central
Texas this afternoon. Breezy conditions were occurring behind the
front with northeast winds of 15-25 MPH. The front will progress
all the way to deep south Texas by this evening and winds should
decrease after sunset as surface high pressure moves in. Skies are
expected to remain clear and the area of high pressure will be
centered over the Concho Valley overnight. Therefore, an ideal
radiational cooling night is expected with temperatures dropping to
the low to mid 30s. However, most of the Big Country could remain in
the upper 30s to around 40 where winds will still be 5-10 MPH. The
area of high pressure will move southeastward tomorrow and lee-side
troughing should develop over the High Plains through the day. As a
result, a quick recovery to around 70 degrees is anticipated for the
afternoon as southwest winds of 15-20 MPH should advect warm air
back into the region.

.LONG TERM...
(Thursday night through next Wednesday)
Issued at 1236 PM CST Wed Dec 10 2025

Above normal temperatures will persist through this weekend, when
the next upper-level trough and associated cold front is expected
to track through the area on Saturday into Sunday. Afternoon high
temperatures leading up to this cold front will be in the upper
60s to mid 70s, then dropping into the upper 40s to upper 50s on
Sunday behind the cold front. Temperatures will gradually rise
again into the 60s and 70s Monday through Wednesday next week.
Some models are showing a second upper-level trough tracking into
the region next Tuesday, with the GFS and ECMWF showing a few
showers developing across the I-10 corridor and our southeastern-
most counties Tuesday afternoon into late Tuesday night.
Confidence remains low at this point, so we will continue to keep
little to no precipitation in the forecast for the time being, but
we will continue to monitor if rain chances increase.
