KDBI values remain above fire danger thresholds across Guanica (692)
and Cabo Rojo (628). Additionally, increasing winds today could
result in sustained wind speeds of up to 15 mph, with higher gusts
likely along the southern coastal plains. However, a northeasterly
wind component may somewhat limit these wind speeds.
Although conditions may appear favorable for fire danger, the
influence of a vigorous tropical wave will support afternoon
convection over the interior and western sections of Puerto Rico,
with the potential for some wetting rains across the southern
coastal plains during this period. As a result, relative humidity
(RH) values are expected to remain unfavorable for fire spread.
The combination of these factors will keep the overall fire danger
level low to moderate today.
