Hazardous Weather Outlook
National Weather Service San Juan PR

San Juan and Vicinity-Northeast-Southeast-Eastern Interior-
North Central-Central Interior-Ponce and Vicinity-Northwest-
Western Interior-Mayaguez and Vicinity-Southwest-Culebra-Vieques-
The nearshore and off shore Atlantic and Caribbean Coastal Waters-
529 AM AST Wed Aug 27 2025

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of Puerto Rico.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

.Lightning...Isolated thunderstorms, particularly across western
to northwestern Puerto Rico, as well as downwind of El Yunque, in
the afternoon. Stay alert and be prepared to take shelter if
storms develop.

.Excessive Rainfall...Flooding in urban areas, roads, small
streams, and washes, particularly across western to northwestern
Puerto Rico, as well as downwind of El Yunque, in the afternoon.
There is a low chance of isolated flash floods. Elsewhere, plan
for water ponding on roads and in poorly drained areas.

.Excessive Heat...This level of heat affects most individuals
sensitive to heat, especially those without effective cooling
and/or adequate hydration. Those extremely sensitive to heat face
the highest risk. Some health systems and heat-sensitive
industries could be affected. These conditions are most likely
across all coastal and urban areas of Puerto Rico.

.Wind...Breezy conditions (18-22 kts | 21-25 mph), particularly
across exposed coastal areas of north-central Puerto Rico.
Unsecured items could blow around.

.Marine Conditions...Small craft should exercise caution,
particularly across the offshore Atlantic and the Mona Passage.

.Rip Currents...Life-threatening rip currents are likely in the
surf zone through at least 6 PM AST, particularly across the
coastline from Mayaguez and Anasco in western Puerto Rico
northward and eastward across the northern coast to Fajardo and
Ceiba in eastern Puerto Rico, and Culebra. These life- threatening
conditions are possible across the remaining coastlines (including
Vieques), with isolated stronger rip currents possible elsewhere,
especially near piers, jetties and channels.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday

Excessive heat will remain the primary concern throughout the
period (particularly on Thursday and Friday), while the risk of
localized flooding and lightning strikes will persist each day and
may increase with the influence of an approaching upper-level
trough and moisture from a nearby tropical wave through the
workweek. A moderate rip current risk is then expected to continue
through Thursday night.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Spotter activation will not be needed.
