...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM APPROACHING THE WATERS...

The areas affected include...
  Coastal Waters OF Northwestern Puerto Rico out 10 NM...
  Coastal Waters OF Southwestern Puerto Rico out 10 NM...
  Mona Passage Southward to 17N...

At 158 PM AST, Doppler radar indicated a strong thunderstorm, capable
of producing winds to around 30 knots. This thunderstorm was located
over northern Cabo Rojo, existing and moving across offshore coastal
waters, moving west at 20 knots. Additional thunderstorms are
expected to develop over the western coastal waters of Puerto Rico
and the Mona Passage through the rest of the afternoon hours.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher
waves, lightning strikes, and heavy downpours. Boaters should seek
safe harbor immediately until this storm passes.

Intense lightning is occurring with this storm. If caught on the open
water stay below deck if possible, keep away from ungrounded metal
objects.

Report severe weather to the Coast Guard or nearest law enforcement
agency. They will relay your report to the National Weather Service
forecast office.
