.DISCUSSION...Monsoon moisture in place across the area today will
result in elevated daytime RH, and fuel numerous showers and
thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. A few showers will move
through the fire area this morning, with daytime heating allowing
the atmosphere to become unstable by early afternoon resulting in
the development of additional showers and thunderstorms. Gusty
outflow winds in excess of 40 mph and locally heavy rainfall rates
in excess of .25" will be possible with these storms. Although
RH recovery was fairly marginal this morning, in the 30-40 percent
range, this increase in moisture and cloud cover will keep values
elevated above 20 percent throughout the day. Winds will remain
terrain driven through midday before southwesterly winds begin
to mix down, however winds will likely become driven primarily
by outflows mid to late afternoon. Drier air Saturday will result
in a reduced chance for showers and thunderstorms.
