            *** 1 FATAL, 1 INJ ***
            Two people were ascending in Butler Basin
            when they triggered an avalanche, and both
            were fully buried. Another group witnessed
            the slide and immediately responded,
            locating and rescuing the victims. One rider
            survived with a leg injury. The other rider
            was airlifted to the hospital in critical
            condition but later succumbed to their
            injuries.
