.DISCUSSION...
Mostly sunny and dry conditions are expected at the wildfire on Sunday.
Generally light winds below 5 mph with an occasional gust up to 7 mph
is expected in the afternoon and early evening. Terrain driven winds
will slightly increase overnight, but remain below the 15 mph sustained
threshold and 25 mph gust concern. Based on upper level weather ridging
continuing to develop Sunday - Tuesday, similar winds and sunny
skies are expected through Wednesday morning. By Wednesday night/Thursday
morning, an atmospheric river (AR) is expected to enter the area. At the
wildfire`s elevation, precipitation is forecast to begin as mostly rain, as
the AR is expected to be warm at arrival. Early precipitation estimates
for Wednesday night through Thursday night are around 1.25 to 2.00" inches
of rain. Late Thursday night, rain should transition to snow, as our forecast
snow levels drop to around 7500-8500 feet. The snow total forecast will
likely change the next few days, but an early estimate on the forecast
snow totals (Late Thursday night - Sunday AM) are around 12" inches. Thursday
morning will also see wind gusts potentially up to around 30 mph.
