.DISCUSSION...
A shift toward cooler temperatures is expected today into the
weekend. Winds look to follow diurnal terrain driven trends with
strongest west-southwest winds in the afternoon and evening.
Surges of monsoonal moisture will introduce thunderstorm chances
in the burn vicinity through the end of the week as well.
Thunderstorm chances are expected to remain less than 5% today.
Increasing thunderstorm chances around 10 to 20% are then
anticipated early Thursday and continuing through the afternoon.
At this time, highest thunderstorm potential is expected along and
east of the Sierra crest, although there is some uncertainty
regarding exact thunderstorm location. A mix of wet and dry
thunderstorms is possible with lightning outside of precipitation
cores and gusty erratic winds accompanying any storms that
develop. As a result, a Fire Weather Watch remain in effect on
Thursday for thunderstorm chances and dry fuels.
