...NWS Damage Survey for 08/24/2025 Thunderstorm Wind Event...

.Overview...
A strong thunderstorm moved through Manatee County during the
afternoon of 08/24/2025, producing a large swath of 45 to 55
mph winds. Several damage reports were received from a community
in the vicinity of Ellenton-Gillete Road and 69th Street East in
Palmetto, FL.

On the morning of 08/25/2025, a storm survey was conducted by a
team from the NWS Tampa Bay Area office. A few manufactured
homes were found to have experienced damage associated with the
storm. One carport was removed, and some metal awnings were damaged
as well. There was also evidence of some tree debris scattered
across the community, largely confined to small limbs and twigs.
The damage patterns did not support a tornado, but rather a
thunderstorm wind event.

While conducting the survey, it was noted that several structures
appeared to have previous damage likely attributable to Hurricane
Milton. Many units had active repairs ongoing that were not
related to thunderstorms on the 24th of August.
