...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM CDT THIS EVENING THROUGH SATURDAY
MORNING...
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.
* WHERE...A portion of northeast Kansas, including the following
counties, Brown, Jackson, Marshall and Nemaha.
* WHEN...From 7 PM CDT this evening through Saturday morning.
* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Thunderstorms from Thursday night into early Friday morning
produced areas of 5-9 inches of rainfall in the watch area.
Additional thunderstorms are expected to initially develop in
southeastern Nebraska this evening. While there is some
uncertainty in how far south these storms will move, if they
make it into far northeast Kansas, there is high-end
potential for another 1-2 inches of rain to fall where
grounds are already well saturated.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood
Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared
to take action should flooding develop.
