THUNDERSTORM WITH DANGEROUS LIGHTNING. RISK...Elevated. AREA...Mainly South of of Interstate 40. ONSET...Ongoing. HEAVY RAIN. RISK...Limited. AREA...Along And South of Interstate 40. ONSET...Ongoing. DISCUSSION... Showers along with scattered thunderstorms will continue across southeast Oklahoma and western central Arkansas through this afternoon. There remains a narrow window into early afternoon for a limited potential for a couple strong to severe storms near the Red River, with hail being the main severe threat. A heavy rain threat which could lead to localized areas of flash flood conditions also exists across southeast Oklahoma into west central Arkansas. Additional rainfall amounts up toward 1 inch to locally approaching 2 inches near the Red River are forecast before the rains exit this evening. North of Interstate 40, over northeast Oklahoma and far northwest Arkansas, scattered rain chances remain into this evening while an area of low pressure moves across the region. Additional rainfall generally less than a half inch are forecast over these locations. SPOTTER AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ACTION STATEMENT... SATURDAY AND SUNDAY...Thunderstorm Potential. EXTENDED DISCUSSION... A cold front moves through the region Tuesday with breezy to gusty northwesterly winds across eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas Tuesday night into Wednesday. The stronger winds are currently forecast within the higher terrain of southeast Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas. Another cold front looks to drop southeast through the Plains over the Holiday weekend with shower and storm chances returning.
