SEVERE THUNDERSTORM. RISK...Limited. AREA...Parts of northeast Oklahoma along the Kansas border. ONSET...Late Afternoon. DISCUSSION... Late this afternoon and into the evening, isolated to scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop across portions of Kansas in the vicinity of a weak cold front approaching the area, eventually moving southward into parts of northeast Oklahoma. Organized severe weather is not expected, but a very limited chance of locally damaging winds will exist with the strongest storms through mid evening. Locally heavy rainfall may also occur. The front will continue to be a focus for additional development to the south and east into early Tuesday morning. In addition, showers, with a low chance of embedded thunderstorms, persist across eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas early this afternoon. This activity should continue into the overnight, with a gradual eastward shift in the western edge of the wet weather. SPOTTER AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ACTION STATEMENT... Local Spotter Activation May Be Needed. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday. TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY...Thunderstorm Potential. THURSDAY...No Hazards. FRIDAY THROUGH SUNDAY...Thunderstorm Potential. EXTENDED DISCUSSION... Upper level low pressure and the weak front will remain over the region into Tuesday with continued chances for showers and storms. The greater potential for storms Tuesday is across southeast Oklahoma into western Arkansas before the front exits the region. Tuesday night and Wednesday should feature dry weather before another cold front brings additional shower and low storm chances to the region Wednesday night. A stronger cold front looks to move through the region Friday into the weekend, bringing additional periods of showers and thunderstorms.
