DISCUSSION...
A band of showers and thunderstorms across parts of northeast
Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas this morning will continue to
shift south with time today. Locally heavy rainfall is ongoing,
mainly in parts of northeast Oklahoma and far northwest Arkansas,
with significant flash flooding also ongoing in the same area.
Rises on area mainstem rivers are expected as well. The heavy rain
threat will also shift southward with time into southeast
Oklahoma, although the overall threat for flash flooding is
expected to be lower this afternoon. A severe weather threat may
develop this afternoon across parts of southeast Oklahoma where
instability will be greatest. Damaging winds and marginally severe
hail will be the main severe weather hazards, although a low
tornado potential will exist as well. Conditions will improve by
mid evening.
