ONSET...Ongoing. FIRE WEATHER DANGER. RISK...Limited. AREA...Eastern Oklahoma and Northwest Arkansas. ONSET...Ongoing. DISCUSSION... A warm front will continue to lift northeast across the region this afternoon and evening with gusty south to southwesterly winds and above seasonal average temperatures. Before low level moisture can spread back over the region, limited fire weather danger will remain through the afternoon hours over parts of eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas. Isolated shower and thunderstorm chances remain for mainly far northwest Arkansas through the afternoon hours. This evening and overnight tonight, thunderstorm potentials increase with shower and thunder storm chances continuing over parts of far northeast Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas. Instability along with veering wind profiles will help to create a limited strong to severe potential into the overnight hours, with hail being the main threat. Precipitation should taper off and exit early Tuesday morning ahead of a weak boundary moving into the region. SPOTTER AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ACTION STATEMENT... Shower and thunderstorm chances return Wednesday afternoon once low level moisture begins to increase over the region ahead of a low pressure system approaching from the Desert Southwest. An isolated severe potential develops Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday night before instability begins to weaken across eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas. Widespread rain showers and chances for embedded thunder continue Thursday and Thursday night with a heavy rain threat that could lead to an increase in flood concerns. This precipitation is forecast to begin tapering off Friday once the low pressure system moves over the region and a cold front drops through eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas. weather.gov/tulsa contains additional information. $$
