Elevated to near critical fire weather conditions will develop by Monday afternoon across all of eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas. The most dangerous fire weather conditions will set up across Osage and Pawnee counties of northeast Oklahoma. South winds with speeds of 15 to 25 miles an hour, and gusts of 30 to 40 miles an hour, are expected Monday afternoon. Afternoon humidity values will dip into the 30 to 40 percent range across much of the area as temperatures warm into the mid to upper 80s. Additionally, dormant grasses persist in some areas, owing to the lack of widespread wetting rainfall, and will support rapid fire spread for any fire starts. Avoid outdoor activities that could inadvertently start a fire, including disposing of cigarettes properly. Report any wildfires to local officials. $$
