Mostly cloudy skies are expected today with a good chance of showers and thunderstorms. High temperatures this afternoon will be in the mid 60s to mid 70s with near 80 degrees over far southwestern South Dakota. Minimum afternoon relative humidities will range from the 30s over far southwestern South Dakota to the 80s over central South Dakota and 50s over northwestern South Dakota. The grassland fire danger index will reach the high category this afternoon. Outdoor burning should be restricted to early morning or evening hours when wind speeds are usually lower and the relative humidity is higher.
