Rangeland Fire Danger Statement

.DISCUSSION...Skies will be partly to mostly sunny today.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms early today will move east of
the area by midday, with just a slight chance of afternoon
thunderstorms over far south central South Dakota. High
temperatures will be in the 60s and lower 70s. Winds will be
northwesterly at 10 to 20 mph late this morning and afternoon, 15
to 25 mph across northwest South Dakota. Relative humidities will
drop to 30 to 45 percent in the afternoon.

...LOW FIRE DANGER...

The grassland fire danger index will reach the low category this
afternoon. Favorable weather conditions or a high moisture
content of grasses, and other dry organic material on the ground,
indicate that the probability of a fast moving fire is low.
Outdoor burning under these conditions can usually be performed
with reasonable safety precautions, but should be monitored.

The outlook for Friday afternoon, The grassland fire danger index
will reach the low category.
