029 FXUS65 KVEF 011151 AFDVEF Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Las Vegas NV 351 AM PST Mon Dec 1 2025 .KEY MESSAGES... * Northwest flow aloft will continue to bring periods of north winds and cooler temperatures to the region through the week. && .DISCUSSION...Today through Sunday. Shortwave pushing through the region will bring gusty north winds to the region, with speeds generally between 10 and 20 mph. The exception is the lower Colorado River Valley, where topographic enhancement will allow for speeds between 25 and 35 mph, resulting in wave heights greater than 2 feet on Lake Mohave. Cannot rule out an occasional gust at or in excess of 40 mph, but these are not expected to be widespread in space or time, so no wind-related headline issued. Decreasing wind speeds and clearing skies will allow for desert valleys to cool off tonight into Tuesday morning. As a result, Freeze Warnings are in effect for the lower elevations of eastern Inyo County (Death Valley National Park, Shoshone, Tecopa), northeastern Clark County (Moapa, Mesquite, Bunkerville, Overton), and central and southern Mohave County (Kingman, Hualapai Valley) to mark their first freeze of the season. Another shortwave will drop through the southern Great Basin and Mojave Desert on Wednesday, increasing cloud cover and relative humidity across the region. Expect a return of gusty north winds (15-25 mph) Wednesday and Thursday as the associated cold front passes through the forecast area. Temperatures will gradually increase late-week into the weekend, reaching above-normal values by Friday. && .AVIATION...For Harry Reid...For the 12Z Forecast Package...Northeasterly winds this morning will gradually back more to the north, with sustained speeds between 8-10KT and intermittent gusts to around 15-18KT expected late this morning into this afternoon. Mid to late afternoon, gusts diminish and winds become light, settling out of typical diurnal patterns this evening onward. VFR conditions will prevail, with bands of high clouds around 20kft. For the rest of southern Nevada, northwest Arizona and southeast California...For the 12Z Forecast Package...Northerly to northeasterly winds are expected across the region today, with the strongest winds through the Lower Colorado River Valley where terrain influences will yield gusts to 20-30KT this morning through sunset. Gusty winds linger in the vicinity of IFP overnight, but diminish at EED this evening. Intermittent gusts to around 15KT are expected across southern Nevada and northwestern Arizona, though with the exception of IFP, winds areawide become light by sunset, settling out of typical diurnal directions overnight. VFR conditions prevail with bands of high clouds around 20kft. && .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...Spotters are encouraged to report any significant weather or impacts according to standard operating procedures. && $$ DISCUSSION...Soulat AVIATION...Phillipson For more forecast information...see us on our webpage: https://weather.gov/lasvegas or follow us on Facebook and Twitter
