950 FXUS65 KVEF 241708 AFDVEF Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Las Vegas NV 905 AM PST Mon Nov 24 2025 .KEY MESSAGES... * Near-normal temperatures, mostly sunny skies, and afternoon northerly breezes will characterize the week ahead until a pattern shift over the weekend returns dynamic weather to the region. && .DISCUSSION...Today through Sunday. Ridging across the Desert Southwest this week will result in mostly sunny skies, dry conditions, near-normal temperatures, and light northerly breezes in the afternoons. The exception will be Tuesday and Wednesday, when a shortwave perturbation along the northwest flow aloft will increase pressure gradients and combine with topographic enhancement to bring 25-35 mph wind gusts to the lower Colorado River Valley. If planning to recreate on Lake Mohave this week, check the forecast before heading out, as wave heights in excess of 1.5 feet could create hazardous boating conditions for small craft. Over the weekend, ensemble means have been consistent in the approach of another closed low system. Forecast confidence on any specific impact is low at this time, though expect some magnitude of increased winds, decreased temperatures, and the return of precipitation chances. Due to the cold origin of this system, any precipitation that falls will be accompanied by much lower snow levels than last week`s systems, which would have potential to impact holiday travel on major roadways, particularly those through mountain passes. If traveling over the weekend after Thanksgiving, be sure to check the forecast before solidifying travel plans. && .AVIATION...For Harry Reid...For the 18Z Forecast Package...Light and diurnal winds expected through the TAF period, with speeds generally remaining below 8 kts.
