.KEY MESSAGES...

* Dry and pleasant weather conditions are expected through the
weekend, with cool temperatures gradually returning to seasonal
  normals.

* A weak system will bring increasing wind and a chance of showers
toward the middle of next week.

&&

.DISCUSSION...through early next week.

Broad troughing will persist today across the region keeping
temperatures well below normal but otherwise dry and pleasant.
High pressure will gradually begin to build in Friday and into the
weekend which will allow for a warm up trend, with temperatures
returning to near normal levels by Sunday. A modest enhancement in
northerly winds is expected Friday as the trough axis shifts east
with the strongest winds favored along the Colorado River Valley,
with the higher winds expected during the morning hours.

Guidance has trended to favor stronger ridging early next week
across the Southwest, with a fairly strong shortwave dropping
through the PacNW and into the Northern Rockies Monday, mainly
resulting in a slight cooling and enhanced surface winds Monday and
Tuesday in our region. Winds will be highest across central Nevada,
but should have very little impacts. Meanwhile, a fairly deep cut
off low will be meandering off the west coast of Southern
California, and is poised to eject inland by the middle of the week.
This may spread increased cloud cover and some shower activity into
the Mojave Desert by Wednesday and slightly cooler conditions, but
uncertainty remains fairly high this far out.
