.KEY MESSAGES...

* Southwesterly breezes and seasonable temperatures will give way
  to cooler temperatures and increased precipitation chances
  Sunday through Tuesday.

.DISCUSSION...through Friday.

Seasonable temperatures are on tap for the region today, with breezy
southwesterly winds picking up across the region as an upper-level
trough begins to develop off the coast of the Pacific Northwest.
This trough will begin to dig along the coast on Sunday, which will
bring cooler temperatures and gusty southwesterly winds to the area
on Sunday. While this trough digs along the coast, Hurricane Polo
will continue to approach the Baja Peninsula, pushing tropical
moisture into the Southwestern US ahead of it. This increase in
moisture will bring increased precipitation chances to southern
Nevada, southeastern California, and northwestern Arizona late
Sunday through Tuesday. Things like precipitation totals and the
exact locations of showers and thunderstorms remain uncertain due to
uncertainty regarding the timing of the aforementioned trough and
where it intercepts the moisture. If the trough is positioned
slightly further west, we will see more moisture advected into the
area ahead of the trough, which will result in the potential for
more widespread precipitation and higher precipitation totals.
Should the trough intercept the moisture further to the east, less
moisture will be available and showers and thunderstorms will be
more limited to areas around the low and out ahead of the trough
axis. This trough will clear out of the area on Wednesday, with
ridging setting up across the Southwestern US behind it. As a
result, weather during the second half of the will be drier and
warmer.

.AVIATION...For Harry Reid...For the 18Z Forecast Package...Breezy
southwesterly winds will increase through the remainder of the
morning hours and continue thru the early evening. Gusts will
subside overnight before returning Sunday afternoon. Mid and high
clouds will increase overnight, but remain generally AOA 12kft AGL.

For the rest of southern Nevada, northwest Arizona and southeast
California...For the 18Z Forecast Package...Gusty south-
southwesterly winds expected across the Las Vegas Valley and
Colorado River Valley thru the afternoon with speeds between 20 and
25 kts. KBIH will gust from the south-southeast to 25 kts and KDAG
will gust from the west to 25 kts. Increasing mid and high clouds
expected overnight...mainly across the Mojave Desert and northwest
Arizona. &&
