.DISCUSSION...
A ridge is building with hot and dry weather continuing in
Western Alaska. Temperatures will be in the upper 70s to low 80s
in most spots with min RHs in the 20s and 30s, highest closer to
the coast. Thunderstorms will be prevalent across the area with
widely scattered storms expected everywhere from McGrath to
Ambler. Expect scattered to numerous storms Monday with the
highest lightning activity being from Ambler to the Innoko Valley.
Some storms may persist overnight Monday into Tuesday, especially
west of Shungnak, Huslia and Ruby and north of Grayling. Any
thunderstorm can come with frequent lightning, heavy rain, hail
and gusty erratic winds.
Otherwise, winds will be largely light through Monday morning,
then increase to 10 to 15 mph from the north/northwest near the
coast, and east/northeast in the Interior. There will be a
convergence zone in the Western Interior which will be one of the
triggers for storms.
