.DISCUSSION...A ridge of high pressure will persist over the western Interior,
bringing warm and relatively dry conditions for non-coastal areas. Highs will be
in the 70s with even some low 80s in the upper Kuskokwim Valley through at least
Monday beneath the ridge. Minimum RH will remain above critical levels though,
mainly in the 30-40 percent range. North winds Saturday and Sunday afternoons
will increase to 10 to 15 mph along a tightening pressure gradient from Ambler to
Kaltag to St. Mary`s.
This evening, widely scattered thunderstorms along the thermal trough can be
expected from Shungnak south to McGrath and Shageluk and east across the Alaska
Range. On Saturday, expect widely scattered thunderstorms from Huslia to Galena
to McGrath, with isolated thunderstorms across the rest of the Western Interior.
Sunday will bring just isolated thunderstorms east of McGrath to Ruby to Ambler
as well as across the Brooks Range.
