.DISCUSSION...
Hot and dry weather is expected across the Western Interior over
the next few days as high pressure builds aloft, with widespread
highs in the upper 70s and 80s and minimum RH values in the 30s
and in some cases even in the 20s. An upcoming favorable pattern
for thunderstorms is expected for these areas, with widely
scattered thunderstorms on Sunday and scattered thunderstorms on
Monday and Tuesday. Thunderstorms on Monday may be numerous from
Galena to McGrath. While thunderstorms activity will be greatest
during PM hours, some may persist into overnight hours.
The West Coast by contrast will be moister, with scattered rain
showers possible across the area the next few days but
temperatures will still rise into the mid to upper 60s in most
areas. Southeast winds at 10 to 15 mph are possible Sunday
afternoon over the lower Yukon River and YK Delta areas, and
northwest winds 10 to 15 mph Monday afternoon through Tuesday
evening. Isolated to widely scattered thunderstorms will also be
possible from Sunday through Tuesday.
