...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FOR FIRE WEATHER ZONES 930, 951 AND
952...
.DISCUSSION...Red flag conditions will continue through this
afternoon until 10pm. Thunderstorms are beginning to develop
around McGrath and we expect continued development through this
evening. Warm conditions will continue with highs today in the mid
to upper 70 and cooling down tomorrow in the 60s to low 70s range.
Minimum RH values will stay above 30% today and tomorrow. Tomorrow
will see isolated to scattered thunderstorms throughout much of
the western interior from McGrath to the Brooks Range. The more
persistent storms could see up to 0.25" of rain.
Tonight could see thunderstorms from Galena north to the Brooks
Range. However, the confidence for this is low. If there is no
lightning there still could be persistent rain showers through
night in that area. Which could help wet the area for when the
main lightning threat starts in the afternoon tomorrow.
