.DISCUSSION....High pressure will continue over much of the
western interior for the remainder of today and tomorrow. We will
see a continued warming trend with Wednesday being the warmest
with temperatures in the 70s to mid 80s. RH values will look to
stay in the 25% to 35% range. We will see increasing southerly
winds tomorrow of 15 to 20 mph. The Y-K Delta could see sustained
winds up to 25 mph. Today we are expecting scattered thunderstorms
from Mcgrath to Western slopes of the Alaskan Range. These storms
could produce rainfall totals up to 0.15". Tomorrow will be
similar with the scattered thunderstorm threat from McGrath to
Lake Minchumina.
The next major threat for thunderstorms will be Thursday. A low
will be approaching the Y-K Delta coastline. This will create a
boundary between the low and the high in the Eastern Interior. We
could see significant thunderstorm development along this boundary
from the Alcan Border to Point Hope. Precise timing, location and
conditions of these thunderstorms still have uncertainty, but the
boundary is consistent so we are quickly gaining confidence on
Thursday thunderstorms.
