.DISCUSSION...
Hot and dry weather will continue across the Western Interior
over the next few days as high pressure persists aloft. Widespread
highs in the upper 70s and 80s and minimum RHs in the 20s and 30s
are expected. Thunderstorms with frequent lightning, heavy rain,
and gusty winds will be possible each day, with thunderstorms
possible through midweek across the Western Interior and, on
Monday and Tuesday, in eastern parts of the Seward Peninsula.
Thunderstorms today in the Western Interior will be widely
scattered, becoming scattered Monday and Tuesday. Numerous
thunderstorms with the most frequent lightning are expected from
Ambler to the Lower Yukon Valley on Monday and on Tuesday from
Galena to McGrath. Thunderstorms in many cases will last into the
overnight. Southeast winds at 10 to 15 mph are possible Sunday
afternoon over the lower Yukon River and YK Delta areas, and
northwest winds 10 to 15 mph Monday afternoon through Tuesday
evening.
