AKST TUESDAY...

* WHAT...Heavy mixed precipitation expected. Total snow
  accumulations between 2 and 8 inches and ice accumulations around
  a light glaze. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph.

* WHERE...Eastern Norton Sound and Nulato Hills, Lower Koyukuk
  Valley, and Middle Yukon Valley.

* WHEN...From 9 PM this evening to 9 PM AKST Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. Areas of blowing snow
  could significantly reduce visibility.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency.

MONDAY...

* WHAT...Heavy mixed precipitation expected. Total snow
  accumulations up to 5 inches and ice accumulations up to 0.10
  inches.

* WHERE...Lower Yukon River, Lower Yukon and Innoko Valleys, and
  Yukon Delta Coast.

* WHEN...From 3 AM Sunday to 9 PM AKST Monday.

* IMPACTS...Travel may be impacted.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A lighter snow with a chance for some light
  wintry mix is expected Saturday. Heavier precipitation begins
  Sunday morning starting mostly as rain or a wintry mix and
  eventually switching back to mostly snow Monday afternoon. Much of
  the precipitation will be rain that is expected to freeze on the
  ground, but not along power lines and other elevated surfaces.
  Temperatures cool rapidly Tuesday and Wednesday causing pooling
  water to freeze.

  accumulations between 5 and 12 inches expected and ice
  accumulations up to 0.05 inches possible. Winds gusting as high as
  35 mph.

* WHERE...Bering Strait Coast, Interior Seward Peninsula, Northern
  Seward Peninsula, Shishmaref, and Southern Seward Peninsula Coast.

* WHEN...Until 6 PM AKST Monday.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult to impossible. Areas of
  blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility to 1/2 mile or
  less at times.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Freezing rain and rain may mix in at times
  along the coast.

* WHAT...Blizzard conditions expected. Total snow accumulations
  between 12 and 18 inches. Winds gusting as high as 55 mph.

* WHERE...Baldwin Peninsula, Kivalina and Red Dog Dock, and Noatak
  Valley.

* WHEN...Until midnight AKST Sunday Night.

* IMPACTS...Visibilities may drop below 1/4 mile due to falling and
  blowing snow. Travel could be very difficult to impossible.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Winds weaken overnight Saturday into Sunday,
  but showery snowfall continues through Sunday into early Monday.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Travel should be restricted to emergencies only. If you must travel,
have a winter survival kit with you. If you get stranded, stay with
your vehicle.

  inches and ice accumulations around a light glaze. Winds gusting
  as high as 55 mph.

* WHERE...Bering Strait Coast and Shishmaref.

* WHEN...Until 9 AM AKST Sunday.

* IMPACTS...Visibilities may drop below 1/4 mile due to falling and
  blowing snow. Travel could be difficult. Areas of blowing snow
  could significantly reduce visibility. Strong winds could result
  in power outages.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Winds weaken Sunday morning allowing
  conditions to improve, but showery snowfall continues through
  Sunday into early Monday. Warming temperatures late Saturday into
  early Sunday leads to periods of wintry mix and improved
  visibilities.

  inches and ice accumulations around a light glaze.

* WHERE...Lower Kobuk Valley and Northern Seward Peninsula.

* WHEN...Until 3 PM AKST Sunday.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. Areas of blowing snow
  could significantly reduce visibility to 1/2 mile or less at times.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Winds weaken Sunday morning allowing
  conditions to improve, but showery snowfall continues through
  Sunday into early Monday. Warming temperatures late Saturday into
  early Sunday leads to periods of wintry mix and improved
  visibilities.

* WHERE...St Lawrence Island.

* WHEN...Until 3 PM AKST Monday.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. Areas of blowing snow
  could significantly reduce visibility to 1/2 mile or less at times.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Increasing temperatures cause the majority of
  precipitation to turn to rain Saturday into Sunday which may
  freeze on surfaces. Winds diminish Sunday. Rain changes back to
  snow as cold air returns early Monday.

  could significantly reduce visibility. Gusty winds could bring
  down tree branches.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Strongest winds will likely be at the higher
  elevations. Valley wind gusts will likely be significantly weaker.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Much of the precipitation will be rain that
  is expected to freeze on the ground, but not along power lines and
  other elevated surfaces. Temperatures cool rapidly Wednesday
  causing remaining pools of water to freeze.
