Subject: Updated: Soliciting Feedback through July 28, 2025 on
consolidating NWS Dissemination Applications, including the WMO
Regional Association IV GTS Internet File Service (RA-IV GIFS)
Website.

Updated to extend the comment period through July 28, 2025.

The National Weather Service (NWS) is modernizing its
dissemination services, including updating and consolidating
disparate dissemination applications into more modern, scalable
and useful services. As part of this process, the NWS is
soliciting comments through July 28, 2025 on the potential
retirement of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO)
Regional Association IV Global Telecommunication System (GTS)
Internet File Service (RA-IV GIFS). The NWS would provide all
the data available in RA-IV GIFS via other alternative
operational platforms, and allow users a transition overlap
period.

The URL for the RA-IV GIFS webpage is:
https://ra4-gifs.weather.gov/

Alternatives for the RA-IV GIFS Website include:

1) Global WMO Information System 2.0 (WIS2): The US WIS2 node is
operational and will feature a Publish-Subscribe (PubSub)
service in the future. A public notification with more details
on the US WIS2 node was sent out, see PNS25-29: Soliciting
Feedback on the World Meteorological Organization (WMO)
Information System (WIS2.0) WIS2 Node API and Service through
June 6, 2025 at:

as well. For more information visit the following non-NOAA
