827 NOUS41 KWBC 022020 PNSWSH Service Change Notice 25-82 National Weather Service Headquarters Silver Spring MD 320 PM EST TUE DEC 2 2025 To: Subscribers: -NOAA Weather Wire Service -Emergency Managers Weather Information Network -NOAAPort Other NWS Partners, Users and Employees From: David Michaud, Director NCEP Central Operations Subject: Termination of NCEP Model Data Service FTPPRD Effective: Feb 23, 2026 The National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) is terminating public access to the model data access service FTPPRD, which corresponds to the URLs ftpprd.ncep.noaa.gov and ftp.ncep.noaa.gov, effective 1200 UTC Feb 23, 2026. In the event that the implementation date is declared a Critical Weather Day (CWD), an Enhanced Caution Event (ECE), or other significant weather is occurring or is anticipated to occur, implementation of this change will take place at 1200 UTC on the next weekday not declared a CWD and when no significant weather is occurring. Users currently retrieving NCEP data from FTPPRD via FTP will be able to access the same data on NOMADS via HTTPS. Both NOMADS and FTPPRD utilize shared infrastructure, so data availability and arrival times will not change. FTPPRD paths: ftp://ftpprd.ncep.noaa.gov/pub/data/nccf/com/ ftp://ftp.ncep.noaa.gov/data/nccf/com/ Equivalent NOMADS path: https://nomads.ncep.noaa.gov/pub/data/nccf/com/ This termination is part of a larger effort to enable more efficient offloading of model data traffic to NCEP`s Content Delivery Network. This will not affect any other FTP protocol services hosted by NCEP.
