OPEN LAKE FORECAST for Lake Michigan
National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan WI
304 AM CDT Sun Mar 30 2025

FOR WATERS BEYOND FIVE NAUTICAL MILES OF SHORE ON Lake Michigan.

Waves are provided as a range of significant wave heights, which
is the average of the highest 1/3 of the wave, along with the
average height of the highest 10% of the waves which will
occasionally be encountered.

.SYNOPSIS...

A stationary front remains over the southern quarter of the open
waters, draped diagonally from southwest to northeast. This front
is expected to move slightly northward early this morning before
back tracking as a cold front this evening. Winds north of the
front are northeasterly and gusty. Winds south of the front are
southerly. Low pressure of 29.5 inches over the Mid Mississippi
River Valley will continue to lift northeast, bringing gusty
southerly winds south of the front (southeastern third of the open
waters)this morning. This low pressure system will cross the
southern portions of Lake Michigan this afternoon, allowing the
front to move south and clear the lake by tonight. Gusty north to
northwest winds continue over the entire lake through Monday,
gradually diminishing Monday night.
