DISCUSSION...
Dangerous fire weather conditions are ongoing this morning behind
a strong passing cold front. The front is producing strong wind
gusts exceeding 40 mph across the forecast area. These winds
speeds will persist through the afternoon hours. A Wind Advisory
remains in effect for all of eastern Oklahoma and northwest
Arkansas until 7 PM this evening. Relative humidity values will
initially fall drastically behind the frontal boundary, but should
recover as the morning progresses and into this afternoon. The low
humidity combined with strong winds and dry fuel conditions will
maintain near-critical to critical fire weather conditions
through the morning, with the highest fire weather threat across
northeast Oklahoma. A Red Flag Warning remains in effect for
portions of northeast Oklahoma until 1 PM this afternoon. Much
cooler temperatures are expected today behind the cold front.

SPOTTER AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ACTION STATEMENT...
Spotter Activation Not Expected.

MONDAY AND TUESDAY...No Hazards.

EXTENDED DISCUSSION...
Gusty winds will be weakening through the daytime Thursday, with
the strong winds gusts occurring during the early morning hours.
Gusty southerly winds and an increase in fire weather concerns
return Friday ahead of the next low pressure system forecast to
move through the region. The next chance of thunderstorms develops
Saturday into Sunday with another low pressure system and cold
front moving across the Plains. At this time, limited severe
potential is possible this weekend.

EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT PLANNING STATEMENT...
A Red Flag Warning remains in effect through 1 pm this afternoon.
Emergency managers and first responders will need to be on alert
for the potential for rapidly spreading fires including some new
wildfire starts.
