...Upcoming Eglin Air Force Base WSR-88D (KEVX) Downtime Due to
Scheduled Maintenance...

Beginning Monday 8 June 2020, the KEVX WSR-88D radar operated by
NOAA`s National Weather Service in Mobile, AL will be down for
approximately three days for radome panel replacement. This activity
is important to maintain the radome structure, which protects the
radar from hazardous weather.

During the downtime, adjacent radars will be replied upon
operationally, including: KMOB (Mobile, AL), KEOX (Fort Rucker, AL),
KMXX (Maxwell AFB, AL), and KTLH (Tallahassee, FL). For direct

The KEVX WSR-88D is part of a network of 159 operational radars. The
Radar Operations Center in Norman, Oklahoma provides life cycle
management and support for all WSR-88Ds.

We are closely monitoring the current tropical cyclone threat
which could potentially cause plans to change based upon future
forecasts. Stay tuned for a potential update to this notification.
