...Gusty Wind and Elevated Fire Risk This Afternoon...

Strong south to southwest winds of 20 to 30 mph, gusting around
40 mph will be seen this afternoon. These winds combined with
drying grasses and crops will also produce an elevated fire risk
as well. Any fires that ignite could spread quickly under these
conditions, especially across cropland. Burning is not recommended
under these conditions. Burn bans are in effect for some Iowa
counties.
