Denver/Boulder Aviation Discussion
Issued at 2018 UTC Saturday, May 25, 2019

.AVIATION...(For the 18Z TAFS through 18Z Sunday afternoon)
Issued at 215 PM MDT Sat May 25 2019
There is the potential for isolated thunderstorms, but these are
expected to remain north of the terminals at this time, so will
not be mentioned in the TAFs. Some high resolution models
indicate some convective activity between 22-00z, however
ceilings/vis should remain above ILS. Southeast winds will
continue with gusts 20-25 kts this afternoon. A cyclone will
remain around the KDEN overnight, with moisture increasing over
the plains. Areas of fog are expected to advect in as well, but it
will depend on the wind direction on whether it will impact the
terminals. Best chance will be at KDEN and KBJC, after 10z, but
should be short-lived as drier southwest flow is expected to push
off the Palmer Divide early in the morning. Another day of strong
southeast winds are expected Sunday early on before the
cyclone/dryline pushes east. Isolated thunder possible for the
terminals Sunday afternoon.

Pueblo Aviation Discussion

.AVIATION...(For the 00Z TAFS through 00Z Sunday evening)
Issued at 316 PM MDT Sat May 25 2019
Quiet weather expected across the terminals through Sunday
evening, with VFR conditions expected and no precipitation. High
resolution models develop some fog along the east side of the
Palmer Divide, and early runs brought the fog into the COS metro
area, perhaps as far west as the airport. However, recent trends
have backed off so will remove the TEMPO group for fog. Evening
shifts will watch the trends, especially if convection to the east
can send a gustfront west up the slope of the Palmer Divide which
would increase the coverage and westward push of any fog that
develops. Otherwise expect drainage winds through mid morning and
no aviation impacts. By Sunday afternoon southeast to south winds
will once again increase at PUB and COS, gusting 20-25 kts. At
ALS expect similar afternoon winds as Saturday, with southwest
winds gusting 25 kts or so.

.AVIATION...For the 00Z TAFS through 00Z Monday
All terminals to be VFR through 00Z/Monday. Convection continues
across west and northwest Wyoming Sunday afternoon. Thunderstorms
have been isolated in nature with mostly showers over this region.
KJAC remains the terminal most likely to see a shower or storm
through about 01Z-02Z/Sunday. Will make adjustments as necessary
toward issuance time as to possible shower impacts at KBPI, KPNA,
and KCOD. Even with convection conditions should remain VFR. Enough
moisture and instability will be present to allow for lingering
showers through much of tonight northwest of a KJAC to KCOD line. We
will again see VCSH at KJAC and KCOD Sunday afternoon as convection
forms over the higher terrain of northwest Wyoming and moves into
the valleys. Coverage and intensity of the Sunday afternoon
convection should be less than today. Other terminals will be dry.
KRKS should see diurnally-driven southerly wind 15-25kts Sunday
afternoon, with most other terminals less than 12kts. Mountain tops
along and west of the Continental Divide will be occasionally
obscured due to convection.

.AVIATION...(For the 00Z TAFS through Sunday afternoon)
Issued at 535 PM MDT Sat May 25 2019
VFR conditions will continue through 06z tonight with locally breezy
conditions and a few isolate showers or thundershowers this evening.
CIGS and VIS will decrease between 05z to 09z tonight at KBFF, KCYS,
KSNY, and even KAIA as winds shift into the east or southeast and
increasing llvl moisture advection is likely. KCDR will likely see
MVFR CIGS, but it should hold off to around sunrise Sunday. Strong
to severe thunderstorms are expected to develop along and east of
the I-25 corridor Sunday afternoon and evening, but timing is still
too uncertain. May include some VCTS in the 06z TAF package

.AVIATION...(For the 00Z TAFS through 00Z Sunday evening)
Issued at 632 PM CDT Sat May 25 2019
VFR conditions this evening transitioning to MVFR and eventually
to LIFR at KLBF by Sunday morning.
Weak convection moving across the far northern Panhandle currently
which most CAMs including the HRRR have a decent handle on. This
driven by weak convergence and flow around the Black Hills and
higher terrain to the west. Low level moisture is lacking in this
area and wouldn`t expect continuation past sunset and not looking
like it will make it to KVTN. Lower cloud deck moves in overnight
in the south in association with a larger area of convection to
the south and northward moving warm front. Have introduced light
fog at KLBF Sunday morning based on short range model soundings
and larger scale pattern association. Better TSRA chances after
the end of the forecast period.

.AVIATION...(For the 00Z TAFS through 00Z Sunday evening)
Issued at 534 PM CDT Sat May 25 2019
Thunderstorms have pushed across the Kansas state line from the
Texas and Oklahoma panhandles affecting LBL currently and soon DDC
by start of the period and HYS by 01Z. Storms look to stay east of
GCK and not affect the station. VFR conditions to start and
thunderstorms pushing east of all locations by 02-03Z. By 06Z,
near MVFR ceilings as stratus pushes across the CWA becoming IFR
by 10Z for all locations with more of a southeast low level flow.
After 16Z, stratus will lift out as winds pick up to 15kts out of
the south to southwest being more of a downsloping wind coupled
with daytime heating as these winds mix to the surface. Expect
storms to redevelop towards the end of the period if not just
after the end of the period as storms push in across from eastern
Colorado and northeastern New Mexico first affecting LBL and GCK,
then DDC and HYS that should be reflected in the next TAF cycle.
Stay tuned for updates and amendments as storms push across the
area this evening and early into the night.

For the 00z TAFs...
Threat for additional thunderstorms at terminals has been greatly
reduced, with redevelopment limited to AMA vicinity for the next
VFR conditions expected through the night as southeast to south
surface winds prevail. MVFR ceilings expected to develop after
sunrise at AMA and DHT, continuing until around 18z Sunday.
Uncertain if ceilings will advance as far north as GUY.
Scattered to numerous thunderstorms expected to develop Sunday
afternoon and evening. Potential for strong to severe
thunderstorms exists Sunday afternoon and evening.

Southwest winds will taper off after sunset at all terminals while a
dryline shifts back to the west across far eastern NM. Model guidance
shows another deck of low cigs developing aft 08Z along and east of a
line from KROW to KTCC and KCAO. A few SHRA/TSRA may also redevelop
in this area overnight which would lead to brief reductions in vsbys
and cigs near heavier precip. Southwest winds will become the focus
