.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 1047 AM EDT Fri May 10 2024

It has been a very quiet, warm morning across the Florida Keys,
with temperatures already nearing the mid 80s and dew points in
the mid 70s. Meanwhile across the Panhandle of Florida, severe
weather has been assaulting communities, with multiple tornado
and severe thunderstorm warnings issued. This severe weather has
been taking place ahead of a cold front draped across the
Southeast and into the Gulf. Surface analysis shows high pressure
in the central North Atlantic still weakly influencing the winds
across the Florida Keys, despite being shoved further offshore by
the trough associated with the aforementioned frontal boundary.
Surface winds are currently from the south, which is generally a
very unfavorable direction for moisture advection for the Keys.
An already very dry airmass was sampled by this morning`s
sounding, and we may actually dry out even more by this afternoon
thanks to this southerly flow. Winds will begin to weaken as the
pressure field becomes weakly chaotic this afternoon. Due to the
very dry airmass in place across the forecast area, showers are
out of the question for today. No changes were needed to the
current forecast.

.MARINE...
Issued at 1047 AM EDT Fri May 10 2024

There are no watches, warnings, or advisories in effect for the
Florida Keys coastal waters. From synopsis, moderate southeast to
south breezes late this morning will slacken and veer to the
southwest this afternoon, as high pressure over the western
Atlantic moves further offshore. Winds will continue to veer
around the compass during the weekend as a weak frontal boundary
moves down the Florida peninsula. The front will dissipate near
the Keys waters on Sunday, then gentle to moderate southeast
breezes will resume early next week as another high pressure area
moves over the western Atlantic.
