...Discussion and forecast updated for easterly winds into the
evening...

.DISCUSSION...

Idaho (Zones 102 and 103): Elevated easterly winds develop late this
evening and continue into the overnight, generally less than 20 mph in
mid to upper slopes. Warming trend continues through Saturday. Isolated
showers around the Red River district this afternoon. Better chance for
scattered showers and thunderstorms with potential for measurable
precipitation Saturday afternoon through the late evening. Outflow from
nearby storms could produce 40 mph gusts, briefly heavy rainfall, and
even some small hail. Scattered showers continue Sunday with a cold
front from the northwest late Sunday into early Monday bringing in
cooler temperatures and moderately strong west winds. Confidence remains
high in a 3-4 day period of ridging, warm temperatures, and dry
conditions by the mid to late part of next week.

Northwest MT (Zones 104 and 105): Elevated easterly winds develop late this
evening and continue into the overnight, generally less than 20 mph in
mid to upper slopes exposed to the east, except 30 mph or less over the
Glacier Region. Warming trend continues through Saturday. Light east-
southeast winds continue today. Chance for isolated to scattered showers
and thunderstorms with potential for pockets of measurable
precipitation Saturday afternoon through the late evening.

West Central MT (Zones 106, 107 and 108): Elevated easterly winds
develop late this evening and continue into the overnight, generally
less than 20 mph in mid to upper slopes exposed to the east, except 35
mph or less in the higher Rattlesnake Mountains. Warming trend continues
through Saturday. Chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms with
potential for measurable precipitation Saturday afternoon through the
late evening. Outflow from nearby storms could produce 40 mph gusts,
briefly heavy rainfall, and even some small hail. Scattered showers
continue Sunday with a cold front from the northwest Sunday bringing in
cooler temperatures and moderately strong west winds. Confidence remains
high in a 3-4 day period of ridging, warm temperatures, and dry
conditions by the mid to late part of next week.

Southwest MT (Zones 109, 110 and 111): Elevated easterly winds develop late this
evening and continue into the overnight, generally less than 25 mph in
mid to upper slopes exposed to the east.Warming trend continues through
Saturday. Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms with the
potential for spots of measurable accumulation across southwest Montana
this afternoon through the late evening under light east- southeast
winds. Outflow from nearby storms could produce 40 mph gusts, briefly
heavy rainfall, and even some small hail. Another chance for isolated to
scattered showers and thunderstorms Saturday afternoon through the late
evening. Scattered showers continue Sunday with a cold front from the
northwest late Sunday into early Monday bringing in cooler temperatures
and moderately strong west winds. Confidence remains high in a 3-4 day
period of ridging, warm temperatures, and dry conditions by the mid to
late part of next week.
