Effective Tuesday, December 15, 2020, the National Weather Service will begin issuing flood only river forecasts for the Suwannee River at Rock Bluff near Bell, Florida (RCKF1). In addition to these new forecast services, flood categories will be established for this location.

The new levels for the Suwannee River at Rock Bluff (RCKF1)

Action Stage 14 feet
Minor Flood Stage 17 feet
Moderate Flood Stage 21 feet
Major Flood Stage 24 feet

This location is a flood only forecast point, which means that forecasts are issued for this location whenever the river is expected to reach or exceed action stage within the next five days. These forecasts are issued by the Southeast River Forecast Center in Peachtree City, Georgia. River flood warnings for these locations are issued by the National Weather Service in Tallahassee whenever the river is expected to exceed flood stage.

These new forecast services were initiated at the request of the Suwannee River Water Management District. The flood categories are based on modeling of flooding throughout the stretch of the Suwannee River near Rock Bluff.

the United States Geological Survey. Without this critical data, forecasts and warnings would not be possible at this location. You can learn more about these and other stream gages operated by the USGS by visiting:
