Hydrologic Statement

For the Manistee River...The following locations are included:

* Persistent cold weather has contributed to the development of ice
jams on some northern Michigan rivers. The Manistee River near
Sherman is presently being impacted by an ice jam, resulting in a
steady rise in river levels. Significant and rapid fluctuations in
water levels can be expected until after the ice jam breaks.

Residents along the Manistee River near Sherman should monitor river
levels frequently. Belongings near the river should be moved to
higher ground, if possible.

The National Weather Service in Gaylord will closely monitor river
levels...and will issue additional statements or warnings as
conditions warrant.
