Weather Summary for the Local Tri-State Region
National Weather Service New York NY
631 AM EDT Wed Aug 12 2020

A slow moving cold front entering the area today will trigger
scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms this afternoon
as it interacts with the very warm, humid, and unstable air mass
in place. The greatest potential for heavy rainfall with this
activity should be just northwest of New York City, where a flash
flood watch is in effect for the afternoon and late day hours.

Shower and thunderstorm activity should die down this evening, but
should start up again very late tonight or during the daytime on
Thursday. This activity does not look to be as widespread or as
heavy as that of today, as slightly cooler and less humid air
moves in.
