Issued by NWS Denver/Boulder, CO
Issued by NWS Denver/Boulder, CO
930 FNUS55 KBOU 112020 FWFBOU Fire Weather Forecast for Northeast and North Central Colorado National Weather Service Denver/Boulder CO 220 PM MDT Sat May 11 2024 .DISCUSSION...Tonight and Sunday... No fire wx concerns for Sunday. There is a good chance of showers and thunderstorms much of the day Sunday across the area, with the highest chances along I-70. Snow levels should remain above 9,500 ft, and several inches of snow are expected throughout the day above at and above that elevation. With good chances of rain, RH will remain above 50 percent for all but areas near the Wyoming border, where it will be closer to 30 percent. LONG TERM DISCUSSION...Sunday night through Thursday...Weak upper level ridging Monday with a trough/frontal passage on Wednesday followed by more westerly flow aloft through the end of the week. Scattered showers/storms in the mountains Monday. Scattered shower/storm chances increase and extend to the lower elevations for Tuesday and Wednesday. Drier on the plains Tuesday with min relative humidity in the 20 percent range; however, moisture returns for Wednesday. It dries out again on the plains by Friday, so we will have to watch that for potential for elevated fire weather conditions. Good to very good smoke dispersal Monday and similar for early Tuesday afternoon. ...Thunderstorms imply strong gusty erratic winds... ...All surface winds are 20-Foot...10-Minute averaged winds... ...CWR is Chance of Wetting Rain - 0.10 inch or more liquid... ...24 HR Trends are based on averages over the respective zone groups and may not match the actual forecast values shown in those groups...
