Weather Summary for Upper Mississippi River Valley

A winter storm was moving towards the region this afternoon. Out
ahead of the storm system, skies were partly to mostly cloudy with
mid-afternoon temperatures mainly in the 40s.

Heavy snow is expected tonight from southern Minnesota into northern
and eastern Iowa, clipping far southwest Wisconsin. Snow
accumulations of 6 to 10 inches are expected along and south of a
line from Austin, Minnesota to Dubuque, Iowa, with locally higher
amounts possible. Expect a sharp drop off in snow amounts along the
northern and eastern edge of the heaviest snowfall. Lows tonight
will mainly be in the 20s.

The snow is expected to taper off Saturday morning, with some
lingering light rain or snow possible into the afternoon. The rest
of the weekend looks to be dry, with highs in the mid 30s to upper
