.SHORT TERM...
(This afternoon through Monday night)
Issued at 254 PM CDT Sun Apr 21 2024
Low clouds are beginning to lift and break across northern and
eastern portions of the Permian Basin this afternoon. Temperatures
there are warming into the upper 50s while where clouds remain thick
further south and west temperatures are near 50 degrees currently.
Upslope flow will continue to weaken this afternoon allowing most
areas to see at least a little sunshine. Low clouds are likely to
return to the Trans Pecos overnight as low bottom out mostly in the
40s. Southerly flow returns Monday with plenty of sun across the
area allowing highs to rebound back into the 70s with 80s along the
Rio Grande.

.LONG TERM...
(Tuesday through Saturday)
Issued at 254 PM CDT Sun Apr 21 2024
Upper level ridge takes over Tuesday and brings temperatures well
above normal with most in the upper 80s to low 90s. A weak front
looks to approach the region late Tuesday and into Wednesday, but
guidance is having a tough time determining just where the front
ends up putting highs on Wednesday into question. If the front makes
it through the Permian Basin, a cooler day like what has been seen
this weekend will be possible. Otherwise, Wednesday will be another
warm day with highs once again in the 80s and 90s. Heading into
Thursday, an upper low passes just north of the area bringing breezy
conditions to the region. High winds may be possible in the
Guadalupe Mountains, but the track of the low will be important. A
second, deeper low looks to track a bit further south than the first
one and could also bring breezy or windy conditions to the region,
but confidence remains low in regards to this system.

(06Z TAFS)
Issued at 1135 PM CDT Sun Apr 21 2024
Surface observations indicate return flow has resumed, and all
terminals have scattered out to VFR. The NBM brings back a few
hours of MVFR cigs for Texas terminals Monday morning, but we`ll
keep cigs VFR for now. If this persists for the 12Z issuance, we
may lower them a bit. Otherwise, skies continue to clear Monday
afternoon, w/CAVU conditions expected Monday night.
