The National Weather Service in Great Falls has extended the

* Flood Warning for...
  Snowmelt in...
  Northwestern Madison County in southwestern Montana...
  Northwestern Beaverhead County in southwestern Montana...

* Until 300 PM MDT Sunday.

* Point forecast for the Big Hole River near Melrose.
    * At 2:15 AM Monday, the stage was 6.2 feet.
    * Flood stage is 6.0 feet.
    * Moderate flooding is forecast.
    * Forecast...Continue to rise to near 7.8 feet by Thursday night.
    * Impacts...At 6.2 feet, water affects areas near Glen.
                At 7 feet, agricultural land floods and irrigation
                systems need to be protected.

* Water levels on the Big Hole River were steady Sunday night, but
  additional rises will occur at least through this week as warm
  temperatures help increase snowmelt out of the mountains. Also,
  runoff from thunderstorms each day this week will likely keep
  rivers and creeks running high and fast.

* There is a chance that water levels could rise further than what is
  currently forecasted, if significant rainfall from thunderstorms
  occur within the Big Hole River Basin. If you live near the Big
  Hole River, we urge you to be prepared to take immediate action if
  floodwaters threaten your life, property, and/or livestock.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
  Wisdom, Melrose, Wise River, Dewey and Glen.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying
spots.

Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you
can do so safely.
