.PREV DISCUSSION...
SHORT TERM...Today through Monday night...Incoming Pacific
upper ridge will pass overhead today with warmer air along
with increasing high clouds. Faster-moving north Pacific trough
will come inland across WA and northern ID overnight and early
Sunday, flattening the ridge. Surface cold front will pass
through our CWA Sunday but pcpn should stay generally north
of our CWA, whereas yesterday/s forecasts had showers as far
south as the central ID mountains. The front will lower max
temps 4 to 8 degrees Sunday with gusty west/northwest winds.
Monday morning looks clear and colder with lows in the 20s and
30s, with the southern Idaho ag valley lows between 32 and 38
degrees. Temps will trend upward again beginning Monday
afternoon as the upper trough exits east. Skies will stay
clear with light diurnal winds Monday and Monday night.

LONG TERM...Tuesday through Saturday...An upper level ridge will
pass overhead on Tuesday, bringing warmer temperatures and mostly
dry conditions. However, moisture ahead of a broad Pacific trough
will increase along a shortwave impulse late in the day, bringing
a 10-20% chance of showers and thunderstorms to the area. The
trough will move inland Wednesday into Thursday, bringing a
10-40% chance of showers to the area, with the best chances in
the higher terrain. A slight chance of thunderstorms will also
develop on Wednesday as our area remains in the warm sector.
Temperatures are expected to cool 5 to 10 degrees on Thursday as
the trough moves overhead, which would still be near to slightly
above normal. Snow levels should also remain above 5500 feet MSL.
Another trough will move through Friday and Saturday, bringing
a 20-50% chance of showers with temperatures remaining near
normal. The active pattern will also bring breezy conditions
late in the week.
