.DISCUSSION...
Through Sunday night...

Look for mostly clear skies and temps tonight in the upper 40s to
mid 50s.

Low amplitude ridging aloft will prevail over the weekend leading
to warmer temps and mostly dry conditions. Highs will be in the
upper 80s to mid 90s. There is a slight chance of showers late
Sunday...limited mainly to the higher terrain as a weak
disturbance moves through in the westerly flow.

Wildfire Smoke...smoke models are indicating a significant plume
of wildfire smoke out of Saskatchewan late today into the evening
clipping far eastern Montana. This may bring some impacts to
Fallon and perhaps northern Carter Counties briefly this evening.
People sensitive to smoke should plan accordingly. Otherwise, we
may see a little smoke in our area this weekend from a few fires
in Idaho and Washington, but it should not be near-surface and
probably only result in somewhat hazy conditions for now. BT

Monday through Friday...

The next weather system enters Monday, driving a cold front across
the region sometime late Monday. The exact timing is still
uncertain, but models are trending towards Monday evening for the
frontal passage. This system will bring cooler temperatures and an
increased chance of precipitation through Wednesday. Currently,
there is a 50-70% chance (highest over the mountains) of at least
0.25" of precip through Wednesday. As temperatures cool, there is
potential some light snow over the highest peaks, with a 20%
chance of at least 1" of snow through Wednesday.

For the end of the week, ridging is expected to build in, leading
to warmer temperatures and drier conditions.

High temperatures Monday will be dependent on when the cold front
moves through. Currently, highs are expected in the upper 80s to
low 90s. If the front moves through earlier, highs may only be in
the 80s. Either way, highs Tuesday and Wednesday will be much
cooler, generally in the 60s and 70s. On Tuesday, there is a
30-60% chance for most locations of highs remaining below 70.
Then, temperatures will warm into the end of the week, reaching
near normal (mid 80s to low 90s) by Friday. Archer

afternoon. Archer
