Water Supply Outlook
National Weather Service Denver/Boulder CO
522 PM MDT Mon May 7 2018

...Water Supply Outlook for north central and northeast Colorado as
of May 2018...

The latest streamflow volume forecasts are based on May 1st
conditions. The north central Colorado mountain snowpack was 76
percent of normal in the upper Colorado River basin, 81 percent of
normal in the South Platte basin, and 92 percent of normal in the
North Platte basin on May 1st. East of the Continental Divide the
snowpack ranged from 60 percent of normal in the Saint Vrain Creek
drainage to 99 percent of normal in the Cache La Poudre River
watershed. Sub-basin snowpack in Summit and Grand Counties varied
from 74 percent of normal in the Williams Fork basin to 109 percent
of normal in the Muddy Creek drainage. The mountains in northern
Colorado continue to hold substantially more snow than the southern
half of the state.

Combined storage remained at 118 percent of average in the upper
Colorado River basin, and fell slightly to 105 percent of average in
the South Platte basin on May 1st. Two thirds of the U.S. Geological
Survey stream gages continued to record near to above normal flows.
Streamflow volume forecasts are generally below to much below
average with the exception of the North Platte basin in extreme
north central Colorado.
