Critical fire weather conditions continue through portions of west- central, central, and eastern NM to this evening before winds begin to subside some. Not entirely dying down overnight, southwesterly winds strengthen again early Tuesday morning. High winds producing potentially damaging wind gusts of 45 to 60 mph with peak gusts up to 70 mph will couple with above normal warmth and low humidity to produce another round of critical fire weather conditions through central and eastern NM. Winds turn westerly behind a cold front moving west to east across NM through the day Tuesday, turning northwesterly to northerly by Tuesday evening. Strong winds last the longest Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning through portions of the central highlands and northeastern plains. Winds taper off areawide thereafter for Wednesday. Breezy to locally windy conditions can be expected each afternoon through the rest of the week. Another round of critical fire weather conditions is favored Thursday as humidity falls again. ................................................................
