...Severe Thunderstorms Possible This Evening and Early Tonight...

A disturbance in the middle layers of the atmosphere is expected
to move from the northwest to southeast over Deep South Texas and
the Rio Grande Valley this evening and early tonight.

Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop over
Zapata, Jim Hogg, Brooks, Starr, and Hidalgo Counties due to the
passage of the disturbance, with more widespread thunderstorm
activity over the neighboring Mexican states of Nuevo Leon and
Tamaulipas. Some of the thunderstorms may be severe, producing
large hail and strong, damaging winds.

Residents in Zapata, Jim Hogg, Brooks, Starr, and Hidalgo
Counties, and anyone planning on traveling south and southwest
across the Rio Grande River into neighboring Mexico, are advised
to closely monitor the weather this evening and early tonight, and
be prepared to act in the event that severe thunderstorm warnings
are issued by the National Weather Service office in Brownsville.
