OPEN LAKE FORECAST for Lake Michigan
National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan WI
848 PM CST Mon Feb 10 2025

FOR WATERS BEYOND FIVE NAUTICAL MILES OF SHORE ON Lake Michigan.

Waves are provided as a range of significant wave heights, which
is the average of the highest 1/3 of the wave, along with the
average height of the highest 10% of the waves which will
occasionally be encountered.

.SYNOPSIS...

Winds will shift out of the north-northwest tonight over Lake
Michigan as 30.7 inch high pressure builds into the northern
Great Plains. The high will progress toward Lake Superior Tuesday
night, allowing winds to turn out of the east- northeast.
Northeast winds will strengthen during the day on Wednesday as
29.5 inch low pressure forms in the southern Great Plains and
shifts quickly toward Lake Erie. The approach of the low will
bring widespread chances for snow to the open waters. Winds will
pivot out of the northwest on Thursday as 30.5 inch high pressure
builds into the middle Mississippi River Valley. The northwest
winds will combine with elevated wave heights to support freezing
spray potential Thursday afternoon, particularly over southern
Lake Michigan. Heavy freezing spray appears unlikely at this time.
